This medication is used in patients with hyperemesis (severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and possibly dehydration in pregnancy), neuritis (inflammation of one or more nerves), convalescence (it is the slow recovery to health and strength after an illness or injury), general debility (loss of strength), growth and development in children, loss of weight & appetite and in all cases of vitamin B complex and C deficiencies. It is also used in pregnant and lactating females as a dietary supplement.
The possible side effects seen with taking this medication includes constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach. These effects are mostly temporary & disappears as soon as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, serious allergic reactions are very rare. However, if symptoms like rash, itching, swelling (especially on the face, throat & tongue area) & difficulty breathing; immediate medical attention should be called.
Pregnant females should their consult their doctors before using this medicine.
This medicine does pass in breast milk, so its usage in lactating mothers should be used after consulting a doctor or a pharmacist.
Before using the product, you must consult your doctor or pharmacist. And inform them: If you are allergic to any of its components of the medicine Or if you have any other allergies (like allergy from soy/peanut found in brands) About your past medical history of use/abuse of alcohol, stomach or intestinal problems, liver problems. If the brand contains folic acid in it, be sure to inform doctor if you are suffering from Vit B12 deficiency (pernicious anemia) as the folic acid can affect some laboratory tests of Vit B12 deficiency without treating the anemia. There is a chance of product containing inactive ingredients which might initiate allergic reactions or other problems.
This medication is contraindicated in patients allergic to Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Niacin (a form of vitamin B3), Nicotinamide (a water-soluble form of vitamin B3), Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Vitamin B, Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), (Thiamine Vitamin B1), and Folic Acid Containing Drugs.
In adults, dosage is 1-2 tsp daily, in children the dosage is 1 tsp daily.
