Indications

This drug is used as a gastroprokinetic (increases gastric motility), usually indicated in nausea and vomiting. This drug can also be given to treat indigestion, dizziness, irritable bowel syndrome, schizophrenia, Tourette’s syndrome (neurological disorder of invluntary vocalizations), and for treating depression with or wthout anxiety.

Side Effects

Side effects of this drug can include sleep disturbances, over stimulation, and agitation. It may also cause extrapyramidal symptoms, and cardiovascular effects, such as decrease in blood pressure.

Contraindications

This drug should not be given in comatose states, CNS depression, or phrochromcytoma.

How to take Levosulpiride?

How to store Levosulpiride?

There are no such significant swallowing/ intestinal issues associated with use of this medicine. Rarely individuals experience intestinal pain because of this medicine however you may have pain due to the intestinal infection (till it lasts).

Following are the precautions for use of this medicine: • May make you dizzy therefore avoid tasks requiring alertness e.g. driving immediately after taking this medicine • May increase sweat production • Irregular menstrual cycle

Does Levosulpiride have any effect on pregnancy and lactation?

This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if no safer alternate is available. This medicine should not be used by lactating mothers.
