This medication is to be given in the treatment and prevention of mild to moderate dehydration associated with diarrheal disorders of multiple causes, and acute gastrointestinal disorders resulting in diarrhea and vomiting. The rice powder is used for fluid and electrolyte loss associated with acute diarrhea.

Patients usually don’t have any side effets. Some dizziness may occur.

Pregnant females should take their physician’s advice before taking this medication.

Lactating mothers should take their physician’s advice before beginning this medication.
Precautions
Powder must be mixed with water immediately before use and should not be made in advance, the drink can be refrigerated for up to 24hrs, if it has to be used over the course of the day for a baby.
