Introduction

Betamethasone belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching. Betamethasone is used to treat itching, redness, dryness, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort associated with a variety of skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It can also be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, angioedema, asthma, Crohn’s disease, and dermatitis.

How To Use

  • Betamethasone can be  applied to the skin topically in cream, lotion, or liquid forms.
  • Please follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the dosage and method of administration of betamethasone.
  • Regarding topical application of betamethasone, follow the instructions given on the label.

Precautions

Give your doctor your complete medical history especially of untreated infections, liver disease, diabetes, and cushing’s syndrome. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and nonprescription medications that you are taking or plan to take. It is important to tell your doctor that you are taking betamethasone before undergoing any kind of major or minor surgery. Consult your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Do not use betamethasone cream on your face for more than 5 days.

 

Contraindications

  • Bethamethasone is contraindicated in people who are allergic to it.
  • Do not use betamethasone if you are suffering from idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a systemic fungal infection, viral infection, active and untreated tuberculosis, and high cholesterol.
